Welcome to the website of the London Ladies Friendly League.
Hello, friends of the LLFL. My apologies for the silence which fell over the end of this season. Unfortunately we just sort of fizzled out, not even completing the initial seven-team mini-group phase of the season let alone the placing play-offs and knockout cup we hoped would follow. I have produced final tables including walkovers and No Result games and they appear below.
It seems that again we took too many risks with a structure which depended so much on everybody keeping pace. A couple of teams folded in one half of the draw, while we got totally out of sync with matches being played in the other. That won't be happening again. From now on we will be scheduling matches to be completed in much tighter time frames and in a single structure.
Yes, "from now on...". I was very disappointed with how things went and my own shortcomings in managing the website and communications. I wondered about stopping, but I think the enthusiasm is still there so we will have a 2017-18 season. Please let Grub and me know if you want to play. It'll have to be smaller and more realistic about how many games it offers, because we had far too much of a range- some wanted to play most weeks, some just couldn't.
We'll also need to standardise communications, as spread across the Facebook Group, work and home e-mails, Messenger and texts it just got too bitty. We'll sort that out as we go. I'm going to post this on the website, the Facebook page and e-mail it to captains.
Looking forward, we will have another one day summer cup - watch for more details of that.
The 2016 Summer Cup page remains up, with a full account of the fun day we had on 14 August last year.
Please join up to our Facebook Page(opens in new window, approval required) for Updates, bonus content and more ways to contact us if you are looking for a team or have any related announcements. It's just as relaxed as this main site and doesn't do any permanent damage to spammers. We do also have a Noticeboard on the site, but it's a wee bit quiet.
Our Mission Statement
Remember that the ethos of the LLFL is FRIENDLINESS. There are no fines, no yellow cards, and no arguments! We don't do time wasting or feigning injury. If one team turns up with fewer than you, lend them a player. If their coach is reffing the game, so what? We are doing this for fun!
